Why subscribe?

In a perfect world, one could stand beside their chosen candidate and after the election, the world would go back to normal, but in my case, that is not what happened. My political decision, caused me to lose job opportunities and friendships. An entire town out to get me, for standing up for what I believed in. I was asked if I would do it again, and the answer will always be “YES”.

“Political suicide” is an unpopular action that is likely to cause significant harm to their reputation, electoral success, or power within their organization”.

Some would say, I committed political suicide by my action, I was even told not to do it or there would be consequences. In this town “We Rule”, and you listen. I decided I didn’t want to follow their rules, and instead open up the gates for others to follow me to a new type of freedom. A freedom not based on fear, but a freedom based on the principles baked into our constitution.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

If I was created equal to my opponents, then my vote had no consequences. To inflict consequences would mean we in fact do not live in a democracy, but instead an authoritarian regime; “the use of strong central power to preserve the political status quo, and reductions in the rule of law, separation of powers, and democratic voting.”

Follow me on this journey of making hard political decisions even when it will cost you everything. A lesson in being brave no matter what. Our democracy depends on it!
